
Roy McDaniel Jr. was born on January 26, 1925, in Fullerton, La, to Roy Sr. and Nellie Francis Mathews McDaniel. He passed from this life on January 4, 2024, in Beaumont, TX, at the age of 98. Funeral services to honor Roy will be held at 10:00 AM, on Friday, January 12, 2024, at Dorman Funeral Home; Pastor Kevin Brown officiating with Pastor Bill Evans assisting. Rite of Committal and Interment will immediately follow, at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Visitation of family and friends will be held Thursday, January 11, 2024, from 5:00Pm until 8:00Pm, and Friday, January 12, 2024, one hour prior to services, at Dorman Funeral Home.
Roy proudly served his country in the United States Army Infantry in World War ll and was a T5 Corporal at discharge. He was employed as a Lab Technician, Instrument Technician, and Draftsman at Allied/Goodrich/Polysar in Orange, Tx and retired after a 44-year career.
Roy was a charter member of Calvary Baptist Church, in West Orange, Tx, and faithfully served wherever he was needed. He loved his Lord and Savior, and loved to sing songs and hymns, in praise and worship of the Lord Jesus Christ. He was a talented artist and loved history, especially family history. He wrote papers, essays, and books about where he came from, and the places he had been. Roy was a good story teller and enjoyed telling the stories of his past experiences, family, and heritage. He also was talented as a woodworker and carpenter, and has over 250 clocks, and 3 houses, that he built to his credit.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents Roy Sr. and Norma McDaniel, Roy and Nellie Earl, one sister Maxine McDaniel, and two brothers Wayne Earl and Roy Lee McDaniel.
Those left to cherish his memory are two sons, Ronald McDaniel, of Mauriceville, Tx, and Shon McDaniel, of Orange, Tx; three brothers, David Earl and wife, Pat, of Pitkin, La, Olin Earl and wife, Eileen, of Ragley, La, and Keith McDaniel and wife, Sondra, of Bridge City, Tx; three sisters, Nelda Ballard and husband, Tommy, of Oakdale, La, Margaret Laurence and husband, Michael, of Ragley, La, and Verna Holyfield, of Kountze, Tx; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Pallbearers for Roy are Jeff Ballard, Curtis Ballard, Dewaine Earl, Mark Earl, Bill Earl, Ronald McDaniel, Mark Mitchell, and Odell Caraway. Honorary Pallbearers are Bubba Wolfford and Bryan Green.
