On Saturday, March 19, 1949, Roy was born to Gladys (Permenter) Boatman and Max Boatman, in Orange, Texas.
Roy was a native of Mauriceville and loved by many. He loved to hunt and watch basketball, especially when his grandsons played. Hunting was his passion. He also loved to dance, which is how he met his wife, Tobi. Roy is a member of the First Baptist Church in Mauriceville. He also served his country in the United States Air Force and was a Vietnam veteran.
In his younger days, Roy and his two buddies, Larry Glende and the late Joe Joe Linscomb would run dogs, hunt and have a good time. Together, they were known as the Three Musketeers. Another hunting buddy was Steve Peveto. Roy had a lot of friends and never met a stranger. He would also go to Bill and Diane Lockes for coffee every morning and Edward Jones, just to chat.
Roy was retired from Sheetmetal Local #54 and Dept. of Criminal Justice, where he was a maintenance supervisor and met another hunting buddy, Paul Morrell. Paul and Roy became good friends and would hunt hogs in Morrell Farm, every chance they got.
Roy is preceded in death by his parents, Max and Gladys Boatman; infant son, Kevin Roy Boatman; brother, George (Boatman) Gardner; In-laws, Luther and Jan Folsom; niece, Michelle Boatman Byrd; and nephew, Jason Boatman.
