The City Council received good news Tuesday in Bridge City concerning the water well system in the city. Mayor David Rutledge expressed the thankfulness of Bridge City to the Sabine River Authority for a $10,000 grant it gave to the city to help repair the Romero Well.
Later City Manager Jerry Jones shared more good news with the City Council that repairs to the well have been completed and it should be operational shortly.
Jones added that it should be ready to go probably next week. Chemicals are being injected in the well on FM 408 already. Jones said the engineers should be in Bridge City on April 24 to begin installing the filters in the wells.
The City Council approved a consumer price index adjustment to the city’s municipal right of way access line rates. The half percent increase will be applied to the annual fee Bridge City charges businesses or other entities for use of telephone poles and other things in the city’s right-of-way as regulated by the state.
