Robert W. Olson, 79, of Beaumont, passed away on July 13, 2021.
Funeral services will begin at 2:00 pm, Saturday, July 31, 2021, at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City. Visitation will precede the service at 1:30 pm. Officiating will be Reverend Charles Miller. Burial will be at Oak Bluff Cemetery in Port Neches, Texas.
Born in Gladewater, Texas, on April 5, 1942, he was the son of Oliver Wendell Olson and Wilma Elizabeth Fuchs. Robert graduated from Nederland High School and attended Rice University where he received 2 degrees in Chemical Engineering and a Ph. D. in Geology. He was a loving father and grandfather. Robert was an avid duck hunter and loved to make duck decoys and fishing lures, many of which he patented. Robert will be deeply missed by his family and all who had the pleasure to know him.
He was preceded in death by his parents and nephew, Dr. Michael R. Olson.
He is survived by his daughters, Pamela Olson and husband Ahmed Dogan, Valerie Olson Monticue and husband Galen: grandchildren Ali Dogan and Ayla Dogan; brother Dr. David O. Olson and wife Barbara; nieces Dr. Katherine Olson Triska and husband Jeremy, Stacey Olson; grandnieces Chloe Olson, Layla Olson and Ella Triska; and grand nephew Holden Triska. He was stepfather to Doug McDaniel.
