Robert Ray Wilson Jr., of Mauriceville,Tx passed away peacefully at his home on March 22,2025,surrounded by friends and family. He was born August 23,1952 in Beaumont Tx.He was raised by his grandparents, Robert F. and Nettie Wilson.Ray’s main occupation was that of a big-rig driver, and retired from Commercial Metals in 2014.Ray also worked at other kinds of jobs such as home repairs and carpentry, referring to himself as a ” Jack of all trades, Master of none.” His hobbies included fishing, going to flea markets,and visiting with friends and family.He loved to load up the family and take them on impromptu camping trips, usually down to Holly Beach, near Cameron,LA. Most weekends , and daily after retirement, he could be found in “Ray’s Man Cave,”shooting pool, playing his music, and quizzing his quest “what year and who’s it by?” Ray loved his music old,original,and the louder the better. His love of music and billiards was passed down to his kids. He was nicknamed “Uncle Ray” by the never ending trail of his kids’ friends that passed through his home over the years.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Robert F. and Nettie Wilson, as well as Robert,Sr., Willie, Bobby Ray and Gene Wilson.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Patricia Wilson of Mauriceville, whom he lovingly called “kid”sister Pam Brady and husband Terry of Vidor Tx, and brother Jeff Wilson and wife Mitzi of Labelle Tx. His girls Kimberly Williams and husband Donny of Silsbee, Sherri Kiefer and husband Brian of Orangefield, Christina Wilson and husband Kenneth of Mauriceville,and his son Aric (A.J.) Wilson and wife Katrina of Vidor,Tx and his cousins Barron Wilson and wife Monica of Mauriceville and Roger Dale Wilson and wife Jackie of Cave City,AR
The family sends many thanks and lots of love to all who have come to visit, called\texted to check on Ray,and sent prayers and positive thoughts along to Ray, and his family during this difficult time. The family is planning a celebration of Ray’s life , to be announced at a later date rather than holding a traditional funeral, as Ray was anything but traditional.
