
On Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at approximately 9:50 p.m., a Newton County Sheriff’s Deputy was patrolling in Deweyville when he observed an individual, later identified as Jerry Moore, walking along the roadway.
The deputy initiated a roadside interview with Moore. During the interaction, the deputy developed reasonable suspicion that Moore might be involved in criminal activity. While speaking with the deputy, Moore admitted to being in possession of a controlled substance, believed to be methamphetamine.
Moore was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Newton County Jail, where he was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance.
