The Sabine River Authority closed all the gates at Toledo Bend Reservoir Monday afternoon following weeks of water releases because of high water. The dam now has one generator operating 24 hours a day for a release of 6,994 cubic feet of water per second. One generator is down for repairs. The lake level is down to 172.1 feet. The reservoir is considered full at 172 feet.
The river authority for the past two weeks has been decreasing the water releases. On Friday, the releases were down to five gates open at one foot each. The dam has seven gates.
Monday morning, the Sabine River in Deweyville was 24.5 feet, the minor flood stage. The National Weather Service expects the river to continue to go down.
