Richard Lane (Ricky) Jones, 58, of Houston, Texas, passed away on Sunday, June 17, 2018, after a long battle with a cardiac condition that he fought for the last 20 years. A memorial service and celebration of life will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Saturday, June 30, at Claybar Funeral Home Chapel in Orange. Visitation will be prior to the service beginning at 1:00 p.m.
He was born June 3, 1960, in Orange, Texas, to Margaret (Peggy) Jones and the late Jimmy Harold Jones, Sr. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Orange.
He was a 1978 graduate of West Orange-Stark High school where he took building trades and became a master carpenter working for 10 years in industrial construction. He became a realtor and later was a manager for EZ Pawn in Houston until his health forced his retirement.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jimmy H. Jones, Sr., brother, Jimmy H. Jones, Jr., grandparents Jack and Laura Gordon, and Floyd and Syble Sanford Jones, aunt, Jackie Barrientos, and uncles David Jones, Jack Gordon , Jr. and Bill Gordon.
He is survived by his mother, Margaret (Peggy) Jones of Houston, sister, Becky Jones ,Lake Charles, LA, niece, Crystal Jones and great niece, Marley Thornton of Houston, aunts Nancy Hooker, Orange, Becky Covington, Houston, uncles Bubba (Rachel) Gordon, Nederland, and Billy Wayne (Linda) Jones of Orange and numerous cousins.
Rick loved the beach, especially when the full moon was shining on the water.
His great niece, Marley was the light of his life and his best friend these last nine years.
