County and school officials gave their appreciation Monday to the Rebuild Texas Fund which is helping to restore schools in Orange County damaged by Tropical Storm Harvey. “Rebuild Texas” is giving more than $500,000 dollars to provide portable buildings for the Little Cypress-Mauriceville, Orangefield, and Vidor school districts. “This will help cover the 10% that’s not covered by FEMA,” said Commissioner John Gothia. “Once Chris (Hensman) and the people at Rebuild Texas came here and saw what we were dealing with, they were eager to help.” Gothia, along with County Commissioner Johnny Trahan were instrumental in getting RTF’s attention focused on Orange County. Trahan (far right) and Gothia (far left) were joined by Orangefield superintendent Dr. Stephen Patterson in meeting with Chris Hensman a program officer with the Rebuild Texas Fund. They met at the Orangefield Elementary School where 16 portables will be used to house classes there in the coming weeks.
