In loving memory of Rebecca (Becky) Lynn Jones, July 26, 1963 – January 13, 2023. She was born to Jimmy Harold and Margaret (Peggy) Gordon Jones in Orange, Texas. She attended Lutcher Stark High School and was an active member at First Methodist Church throughout her childhood and youth.
Becky Lynn loved family get togethers, camping and going to Crystal Beach to the family beach house where she spent many fun weekends and summer days. She moved to Sulphur, Louisiana then to Lake Charles before having to be evacuated to New Orleans due to hurricane Laura. She fell in love with the city and decided to stay there among numerous new friends she made. Becky loved to cook and especially loved making and sharing Cajun food that she learned to make while living in Louisiana.
She is survived by her mother, Margaret (Peggy) Gordon Jones, her daughter, Crystal Lynn Smith and husband Christopher Smith and granddaughter Marley Jane Thornton, all of Houston, Texas. Also surviving are aunts Nancy Gordon Hooker of Orange and Rebecca Gordon Covington of Houston, uncle Alexander (Bubba) Gordon and wife Rachel of Nederland, Texas, and numerous cousins. She was especially close to her cousin Ellen Gordon McClain of Sienna Plantation, Missouri City, Texas, whom she spoke with almost daily.
She was preceded in death by her father, Jimmy Harold Jones, her brothers Jimmy Harold Jones, Jr. and Richard (Ricky) Lane Jones, and her grandparents, Jack R. and Laura Prather Gordon and Floyd M. and Sybil Sanford Jones. One of Becky’s favorite songs was “In the Arms of the Angels”, which we are sure she is, welcomed by all these who left before her.
