The KOGT Athlete of the Week, sponsored by First Financial Bank, is Orangefield’s Pete Ragusa.
Ragusa, a senior, recently surpassed 1000 points scored in his career with the Bobcats. And while currently averaging more than 20 per contest, Coach Jake McDonald said the skies the limit for his “Gym Rat.”
“Pete deserves the accolades and everything that has or will come his way,” said McDonald. “He’s worked hard and sets the example as he leads our team.”
That example includes 200 makes a day Ragusa says. “When we’re done practicing sometimes I have to tell Pete to turn the lights out when he leaves because he’s still shooting,” Coach said with a smile. He added Ragusa has worked on his all around game as well as he currently averages five assists per contest.
Ragusa’s total focus has been on basketball, he doesn’t play any other sports. He also knows the Bobcats have a chance to make a run. “We have a good team,” he said. “We’ve got the talent to compete for a district title and make a run in the playoffs.”
Then after graduation, Ragusa is hoping to play at the next level. He’s had a few colleges call but he hopes the success of the Bobcats and his senior season will bring a few more.
Continued success to Pete and the Bobcats from KOGT and First Financial Bank!
