The Orange Planning and Zoning Commission, plus the City Council, have approved a preliminary plat for a new QuikTrip gas and convenience store. The store is planned for Highway 62 north of Interstate 10 by the Blue Beacon Truck Wash.
The property is outside the city limits but is on the border of the city. City officials expect the company to request an annexation.
The commission and council made the vote Wednesday during a special called meeting.
QuikTrip or QT as they’re known, was founded in 1958 in Oklahoma and currently has 850 stores in 11 states (216 in Texas). Their slogan is “More than a convenience store.”
Mayor Larry Spears Jr. told KOGT other Highway 62 commercial developments include a new hotel to be constructed.
