Orange County Commissioners Court will hold a Public Hearing on Tuesday, March 14 at 1pm to discuss and possible take formal action on a request concerning Battlin’ Bear Estates.
Interested parties are invited to appear and discuss a request that the county take over maintaining the roads in the neighborhood located off FM 1078 near the intersection of FM 1130.
There are approximately 35 homes in the neighborhood.
Precinct One Commissioner Johnny Trahan said that when the developer opened the neighborhood almost 20 years ago, the roads were not built to county standards and have been patched ever since.
“The bond expired and there were some oversights,” he said. “But we want to see if we can help. We just have to find the best route for both sides.”
Trahan said the county is offering to do the work, but the residents would have to purchase the material. And they would have the opportunity to pay it over 4-5 years. Once the work is completed then the county would continue to maintain the roads.
“But it all has to be voted on,” Trahan said. “The commissioners would have to approve and at least fifty percent plus one of the residents would have to approve.”
