Entergy says due to extensive damage, crews will continue to make long-term repairs to the substation. Customers may experience interruptions over the next few days, but they will work to minimize disruptions. Approximately 800 customers have lost power.
Residents in the Cove and nearby were still without power early Friday morning after a man drove thru an intersection and into an electrical substation.
The call came in around 3am. The man was driving on Irving Street in West Orange and instead of stopping at the intersection of Irving and FM 1006 (Chemical Row/DuPont Dr.) he drove through the intersection and into an Entergy Substation near the DOW Plant.
The driver of the truck, Jose Torres of Beaumont, received only minor injuries but was arrested on charges for failing to comply with requirements on striking a structure and criminal trespass, both misdemeanor offenses.
