Orange police are investigating a hit-and-run collision on Sunset Drive by the country club Wednesday afternoon. A woman accused of driving the Lexus that hit a pickup truck did not stop and the pickup driver followed her to a business. She evaded him by walking out another door of the business.
Officer Claybar reported the collision was about 5:30 p.m. in the 2800 block of Sunset Drive. A 39-year-old man was driving a GMC pickup truck westbound with his teenage daughter in the passenger seat.
The man told Officer Claybar the 2003 gold Lexus RX 300 was traveling eastbound and veered into the westbound lane. The Lexus hit the passenger side of the pickup.
The man pulled the pickup truck to the side of the road and expected the Lexus to stop. Instead, the Lexus continued eastbound on Sunset.
The man said he followed the Lexus to a business parking lot in the 1700 block of Link Avenue. He saw a red-haired woman get out of the car and he tried to talk to her. Officer Claybar reported the woman tried to blame the man for the collision and she went inside the business.
The man also went inside the business, but found out the woman had left through the front door, which faces 16th Street, and fled on foot.
