
Orange police have two suspects in burglaries at car dealerships and have recovered the stolen items in one of them.
Detective Captain Cliff Hargrave said employees at Sabine River Ford on Green Avenue called police about 2 Thursday afternoon because they discovered that a laptop computer. The computer was taken from the service department sometime between 12 and 1 p.m. Detectives identified a suspect from surveillance videos at the dealership. Captain Hargrave said the man can be seen walking around the business and then going inside with a backpack. He left carrying the backpack in his hands. No charges had been filed as of Friday afternoon.
A break-in at the service department at Cecil Atkission Toyota, 2500 Interstate 10, was discovered by a cleaning lady at 5 a.m. A white 2007 Toyota Tundra pickup truck was stolen. Captain Hargrave said the truck was in the service department because it had problems traveling over 40 miles per hour. He said police are looking for a man in connection with the burglary. The man believed to have stolen the truck was placed on probation July 30 for similar thefts, according to Captain Hargrave.
Early Friday morning, burglars broke out the glass doors at Tractor Supply Co., 2020 Interstate 10, and stole two chainsaws worth a total of $600. Patrol Officer Isaac Henry reported the security alarm at the store sounded at 2:46 a.m. When he arrived, he saw the glass broken out of the doors. Store surveillance video showed a man and woman using a brick to break the glass. They both went inside the store through the opening and the man grabbed two chainsaws. Then they both fled the building.
On Wednesday, police were called to a burglary at a house in the 2200 block of 24th Street. A set for eight of silverware was taken along with a .38 caliber revolver. In addition, an outside storage building had been burglarized.
