Two people were rescued Saturday night from a swampy, wooded area in Louisiana after the Cirrus airplane they were flying made an emergency parachute landing.
Kim Myers with the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office said the landing was near the Texas border in a woods near the Sabine River. She said the sheriff’s office had a plane on patrol that night because of crowds at a McNeese University football game.
The sheriff’s plane quickly spotted the plane’s parachute stuck in the tops of trees. The sheriff’s marine division was called because of the wetlands and rescued the pilot and passenger. Neither were hurt.
Myers said the sheriff’s office is not investigating the incident.
