The City of Pinehurst will be seeing infrastructure improvements in the coming months of 2021. The $6.8 million grant from the Texas General Land Office (GLO) is in the bidding phase and sewer improvements with another Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) will begin soon.
The GLO grant has three phases with the upgrading and relocation of the waste water treatment plant, extensive sewer improvements, and the repaving of streets damaged by flooding from Hurricane Harvey. City Administrator Jerry Hood indicated the bids for the sewer phase will be opened on Thursday, January 21 at the Pinehurst City Hall. The grant administrator will start receiving bids for the street phase in about two to three weeks.
Pinehurst applied for the CDBG grant in 2018, but was turned down. The state has since changed its mind and awarded the grant to the city which Hood described will be used to perform pipe bursting of the sewers on Enchanted Oaks and Mockingbird. “There will be some forward movement coming up on that and it’s right in line with our $6.8 million grant as well, there’s no overlapping of the grants, it’s kind of neat it picked up areas where the other one left off,” Hood stated.
