The City of Pinehurst has posted signs at residences that will be affected by a major sewer project in the city. The signs were posted on Tuesday, May 18, notifying the residents where contractors will be performing pipe bursting and installing new service lines on the city side up to the clean out at properties.
The notice apologized for any inconvenience the sewer project may cause during this time. Contractors previously ran cameras through the portions of the sewers where pipe bursting will be started this week.
The sewer portion of the $6.8 million General Land Office (GLO) improvement project started in March. Pinehurst City Administrator Jerry Hood promised the city would go out to the owners of the properties to let them know of the traffic to try to minimize the impact for the homeowners.
The sewer project is one third of the overall GLO mitigation grant project. The $6.8 million will also be used for resurfacing a number of roads in Pinehurst that were flooded during Harvey. The final phase will be elevating and upgrading the wastewater treatment plant for the city.
