UPDATE: Water started flowing again in the city around 4:30pm Friday but the boil water notice as far as drinking the water is still in effect and most likely will be into Sunday.
The City of Pinehurst sent out a Boil Water Notice at 2:30am Friday morning. The problem is residents don’t have any water to boil.
The Pinehurst Water Dept. tells KOGT there was an 8″ main water line break Thursday afternoon around 4pm at the new Pinehurst Villas that are being built on Old. Hwy. 90. After that line was repaired after midnight, they recharged the line and put out the boil water notice. Since then, they believe the pressure caused another part of the line to break in the same area around 6am and they’ve been working on that break since then. The two breaks have drained most of the water from the city.
Pinehurst is hoping to have the line fixed and the pumps turned on sometime in the early afternoon on Friday. But even when the water returns, the boil water notice will continue until the water can be tested and pass inspection.

BOIL WATER NOTICE
Due to Reduce distribution system pressure the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality has required the City of Pinehurst 1810009 public water system to notify all customers to boil their water prior to consumption (e.g., washing hands/face, brushing teeth, drinking, etc.). Children, seniors, and persons with weakened immune systems are particularly vulnerable to harmful bacteria, and all customers should follow these directions).
To ensure destruction of all harmful bacteria and other microbes, water for drinking, cooking, and ice making should be boiled and cooled prior to use for drinking water or human consumption purposes. The water should be brought to a vigorous rolling boil and then boiled for two minutes.
In lieu of boiling, individuals may purchase bottled water or obtain water from some other suitable source for drinking water or human consumption purposes.
When it is no longer necessary to boil the water, the public water system officials will notify customers that the water is safe for drinking water or human consumption purposes.
Once the boil water notice is no longer in effect, the public water system will issue a notice to customers that rescinds the boil water notice in a manner similar to this notice.
