The Pinehurst Police Department had a car show Tuesday afternoon. Chief Fred Hanauer presented three new vehicles for exhibition at the parking lot of the Pinehurst City Hall and Police Department. Hanauer pointed out these vehicles could be used in high water emergency rescue situations like the flooding during Harvey when all the City of Pinehurst had was a flat bottom boat without a motor. The chief added the former military vehicles could also be used in the event of an active shooter incident. Hanauer indicated the police department got a fully functional Humvee and a couple of ¾ ton trucks from Law Enforcement Support Office (LESO) for no charge to the city thanks to the work of Lt. Keith Reneau to get the vehicles.
