Rain did not dampen the fun and food that was shared at the 18th Annual Pinehurst Senior Citizens Picnic at the Family Worship Center. Shaun Branham sang and entertained those attending the picnic in the covered dining area. The Orange Blossom Line Dancers strutted their stuff to the delight of the audience.
Robert’s Steakhouse provided a great lunch of a link, potato salad, gumbo, and a piece of cake. There was also watermelon for everyone.
Those in attendance included Congressman Dr. Brian Babin who greeted all those in attendance and ate lunch with them. Both candidates for County Commissioner in Precinct Two, Theresa Adams Beauchamp and Deborah Mitchell met with those attending the picnic. Pinehurst was well represented with Mayor Pete Runnels and Aldermen T. W. Permenter and Dan Mohon sharing the holiday event.
Some wonderful door prizes were drawn at the end of the picnic. Louis Nance won a great rocking chair and Gail Green received a 50-inch television. Mary Dillard was honored as the oldest woman attending at age 88. The oldest man at the picnic at age 89 was Floyd Broussard.
