The Pinehurst City Council met Tuesday. The oaths of office were given to the mayor and four members of the City Council.
T. W. Permenter will start serve the remaining year on the term of the late Dan Mohon who resigned as mayor for health reasons. Greg Willis was appointed to fill Permenter’s position on the City Council and will now complete Permenter’s unexpired term.
Incumbents Sarah McClendon and Dr. Michael Shahan were sworn in for two-year terms on the council. Beginning his first two-year term on the Pinehurst City Council is Johnny Asevedo who also received his oath during the meeting on Tuesday. The only member of the council who did not run this year was Cynthia Adams.
McClendon was appointed by the council to retain her position as the Mayor Pro-Tem. Willis and Asevedo were appointed to join City Administrator Jerry Hood on the Police Negotiation Team.
The City Council approved the purchase of a small tractor. The cost will be $16,951, and the equipment will be used by the Water Department.
