The Pinehurst City Council met Tuesday and approved the budget and the tax rate for next fiscal year. The meeting was held at the City Hall and via teleconference because of requirements for social distancing.
Separate public hearings were conducted for the budget and the tax rate during the meeting. There were no citizen comments during either public hearing.
The council unanimously approved the budget of $3.3 million excluding any grants Pinehurst may receive. The tax rate was approved unanimously at $0.75813 per $100.00 valuation.
The Public Health Disaster Declaration for the COVID-19 pandemic was extended to October 31 at the recommendation of City Administrator Jerry Hood. The Hurricane Laura Disaster Declaration was also extended to October 31 at Hood’s recommendation.
It was announced during the meeting that the Municipal Court in Pinehurst will resume on October 1. The council approved a resolution renewing the line of credit with First Financial Bank.
