Phillip Louis DeBlanc, 70, of Orange, Texas passed away on January 15, 2025.
Phillip was born in Orange, Texas on June 9th, 1954, to Edward Marshall DeBlanc and Nadine (Mullen) DeBlanc. A lifelong resident of Orange, Phillip was married to former spouse Lynda Diane (Davis) and had one son, Phillip Joseph.
At an early age Phillip had a curiosity for how things worked. He took his first motor apart with a hammer and according to him that demonstration of craftsmanship was not well received. However, it wasn’t long before he was fixing small motors etc and neighbors and friends would bring their equipment over for him to repair. His aptitude towards fixing things and mechanical inclination carried over in adulthood and Phillip worked as an auto body repairman all over the Golden Triangle. He worked 12 years at Border Street Body Shop and aside from repairing wrecks or restoring vehicles; would often have quite a few visitors needing something repaired “real quick” or advice on how to do so.
Earlier in life Phillip enjoyed taking a flat bottom boat out on the Sabine and always had some car he was tinkering with. He took pride in finding vehicles others viewed as junk and transforming it into something. Later in life he enjoyed watching car shows, History Channel and MASH. He would complain about being tired of MASH but never missed a re-run “because there is nothing else good on TV”.
Phillip is preceeded in death by his parents, Edward and Nadine; and nephew, Ronald DeBlanc. He is survived by his son Phillip Joseph DeBlanc and wife, Larissa; grandchildren Melanie, Phillip (Grant) and Liam; brothers, Lawrence DeBlanc and wife Linda, and Robert DeBlanc and wife Barbara; nephews Marshall DeBlanc and wife, Rachel, and Mathew DeBlanc and wife Sarah and Edward DeBlanc.
At Phillip’s request cremation and a private gathering of family of friends will take place in lieu of a funeral service.
