LCM junior Eli Peveto survived falling down to win the 4A Region III Cross Country Meet held Monday at Sam Houston State in Huntsville.
“He fell in the first mile,” said Coach Dena Adkins. “But he got up, caught up, and then took over the race at the end of mile two. It was great to see him smiling as he came across the finish line.”
Peveto ran against 168 other runners. The Bears finished ninth as a team with Palestine winning the team title. Bridge City was 17th.
It’s the third straight trip to State for Peveto. He finished 52nd as a freshmen and 22nd as a sophomore. The State Meet is Nov. 4 in Round Rock.
