Peggy A. James, age 89, of Orange, Texas, passed away at her home on Wednesday, July 24, 2024. Funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM, on Monday, July 29, 2024, at Dorman Funeral Home; Bro. Jerry McNeill officiating. Rite of committal and interment will immediately follow, at Autumn Oaks Memorial Park. Visitation of family and friends will be held one hour prior to services, at Dorman Funeral Home.
On Tuesday, April 30, 1935, Peggy was born to Jonnie Arwood (Smith) Henderson and Claude Elbert Henderson, in Eunice, Louisiana. In 1946, Peggy and her family moved to Orange, Texas, where she remained a lifelong resident. Peggy was a devout Christian woman, who attended Community Church, in Orange, Texas, and always enjoyed attending their Youth trips. It was known by all who knew Peggy that her most treasured accomplishment was being a grandmother. Chocolate milkshakes were sometimes made for breakfast, while spoiling Jaxson “rotten”.
Peggy is preceded in death by her beloved husband, C.A. James; son, Chuck James; parents, Claude and Jonnie Henderson; brothers, Ralph, Harold Clarence “Mouse”, and Charles Henderson; and sisters, Bernice Taylor, Margaret McCugh, and Patricia Oswalt.
Those left to cherish Peggy’s memory are her daughter-in-law, Hollye James; grandson, Corye James; granddaughter, Brittni James; great-grandson, Jaxson Ashworth; sister, Shirley Fisher; and numerous members of extended family, and friends.
“B.B.” will be greatly missed by all family and friends.
Honoring Peggy as pallbearers are Scott Passmore, Robert Broussard, Aaron Ashworth, Logan Robards, Keith Oswalt, and Steve Oswalt; honorary pallbearers are Jaxson Ashworth and Remington Meaux.
