Novacek Coming To Orange

Dallas Cowboy great Jay Novacek will be in Orange Wednesday as the Special Guest for the Salvation Army Love Beyond Luncheon at the Orange County Expo Center. The event will begin at 11:30am and will include a meal. The 3X Super Bowl Champ and KOGT's Gary Stelly will talk about his career with the Cowboys and there will also be a chance for the audience to ask questions and get autographs. Tony was born January 31, 1966, and died on May 14, 2025. Born to the late Bennie Owens and later adopted by John Dallas, he lived the majority of his life in Orange, Texas. Alva Jane Slaydon-Moore, born on August 23, 1941, in DeRidder, Louisiana, passed away on May 13, 2025, at her home in Orange, Texas. Alva was a beloved member of her family, cherished as a wonderful mother and wife. She was affectionately known as "Memaw" or "Maw Maw" to her grandchildren, who she loved and treasured. Alva enjoyed cooking, particularly delighting her family with her famous hamburgers. She spent her time pursuing hobbies such as quilting, sewing, and dancing. Korey Burris Behind The Mic

I thought I knew the majority of the Korey Burris Story but I was way off. Back in the nineties Burris attempted suicide and lived to tell about it. You can imagine what it took just to put him back together and the rehab that went with it. But his story didn't end there. And then it didn't end there. And then it didn't end there. Peveto Crawfish Boil Fundraiser

The Ed Peveto Memorial Crawfish Boil fundraiser will be held Saturday May 24, 2025 at the Jewel Cormier Park off of 1442 in Orangefield, starting at 1:00pm. There will be a silent, Cajun and highest bidder auction. Crawfish, corn, potatoes and links will be provided. NO drinks are provided, so please bring your own. Two Make All-Conference

The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor softball team placed 11 athletes on the All-American Southwest Conference teams, released Tuesday. That included former LCM Bears Bailey Frenzel and Madeline Stephenson Frenzel, a senior first baseman, was named to the Second Team. She started in all 40 games this season. Frenzel hit .360 on the year, leading the Cru with a .604 slugging percentage. She ranked third on the team with 40 hits, adding a team-high 32 RBI. Damian Ruiz was named Southland Conference Hitter of the Year, league officials announced Wednesday morning. Ruiz is one of three other Cardinals honored. Joining Ruiz (first team) on the all-conference team are Matt Ryan (first team), Riely Hunsaker (first team) and Bridge City's Peyton Havard (second team).
