Historical Marker On Pine Ave.
The Orange County Historical Commission will dedicate a Texas Historical Marker at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 22, at the home of Beth and Kenneth Wheeler, 1008 Pine Avenue. The public is invited and the couple will host a short open house and serve refreshments after the ceremony. The house was built in 1889 on a lot in Orange's first subdivision. The Wheelers spent years rebuilding the house in the Old Orange Historic District with inspiration from a house in New Orleans Garden District. Harry’s Appliances To Close
An institution in Orange will be closing its doors. Harry's Appliances, serving Orange and the surrounding area for more than six decades has announced a Going Out of Business Sale. It will go on through the end of June when the store celebrates its 64th Anniversary. Owner Harry Stephens passed away in April 2024 at the age of 82. For the first time since 1982, The Pirate Players of Vidor High School competed at the 4A State One Act Play Monday. VHS finished Second Runner-Up with their performance of Little Women. Piper McGee, playing the role of Amy March, was named Sam French/Outstanding Performer in Class 4A. Alexia White was also named to the All-Star Cast. She played the role of Jo March.
