The Orange Fire Dept. was busy Friday and early Saturday morning with two house fires in less than 24 hours. The worst was a two story home that was reported around 1:15am Saturday morning at the end of 14th St. near Barkins. OFD says no one was home at the time and the home is a total loss. Woman Living On Streets Found Deceased
Friday morning the woman that most people assumed was homeless because she was seen on 16th St. in Orange all day with her belongings in a shopping cart, was found dead near the former Family Dollar store. Orange Police said a man had dropped off a bottle of water to her, assuming she was sleeping. He returned later and noticed she had not moved. Capt. Keith Longlois said they kept tabs on Shantel Jordan, and although she had a house where she could stay, she always said it was her plan to live on the streets and that she was there by her choice. A large water spout developed over Sabine Lake Friday. This video was taken by Daniel Wilbur for KOGT near the Consolidated Ship Repair. The Bridge City Cardinals saw their season come to an end Friday afternoon in Navasota after a wild 7-6 loss to Wimberley in 8 innings. BC needed the win to force a Game Three after losing the opener on Thursday 4-1. The Cards scored first using textbook offense. Hunter Ford walked to first, Carson Sauceda bunted him to second and then CJ Riojas singled him home for a 1-0 lead.
