by Sheriff Colton Havard Swatting Call Incident: On Monday, May 26, 2025, at 11:25 p.m., the Newton County Sheriff’s Office received a call from an individual stating he had shot his mother and father at an address in the Liberty Community. While deputies were responding, the individual claimed he wanted to negotiate with Sheriff Havard before surrendering. Jockey Arrested For Cheating
On May 31, 2025, Detectives assigned to the Louisiana State Police Gaming Enforcement Division - Lake Charles Field Office arrested 41-year-old Ricardo Hernandez-Perez of Vinton. The arrest was a result of an investigation into allegations of cheating by horse jockeys at the Delta Downs Racetrack and Casino. After the races concluded, Detectives conducted post-race checks of each jockey.
