Dr. John E. Phelps, 83, passed away peacefully at home on June 4, 2025, after a brief but fierce illness. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Rebecca; his son and daughter-in-law, John and Stephanie; his daughter and son-in-law, Kristina and Christopher Robinson and his two grandchildren, Misha and Zachary. He is also survived by three sisters, two sisters-in-law, and numerous nieces and nephews. John was born on March 6, 1942, to Maxine Junior and Woodrow Wilson Phelps in Birmingham, Alabama. Brought into this world on July 16, 1925 in Orange, Texas, he was the sixth of seven children born to John and Maria Romano.
