Dennis Leo Dickson, 83, of Vidor, passed away on Sunday, June 29, 2025, at his residence. A native of St. Louis, MO, Dennis was a longtime resident of Vidor and worked in maintenance at the West Rock Paper Mill Company. He had a passion for sport shooting and was an avid gun collector. Arson At CVS
Early Saturday morning Orange firefighters were called to put out a fire at CVS Pharmacy. Just after 1am, someone walked up to the door at the CVS Pharmacy on 16th Street in Orange and threw a rock at the front door, breaking the glass. Then they threw a Molotov cocktail into the store. Some of the carpet was burned before the fire department put the fire out. Heavy smoke damage and some water damage will have the store closed on Saturday, June 28. State Passes HB 1481
On June 22 Texas Governor Greg Abbott signed House Bill 1481 into law. This means students in school will no longer be allowed to use personal wireless communication devices during class times. After hearing from educators that cell phones are distractions in the classroom, Texas banned the devices in schools, drawing support from both the Texas House and Senate. The bill lists cell phones, text messaging devices, laptops and tablets as devices that would fall under the state’s K-12 classroom ban.
