Big Rig Stuck Following Accident
Monday the intersection of Hwy. 87 and Allie Payne in Orange was a mess for a while following a two car accident. A red Mazda was struck from behind by a white SUV, pushing it into the southbound lane of Hwy. 87. While authorities were working the scene, they were detouring southbound traffic over the railroad tracks to Bob Hall Rd. The trailer of an 18 wheeler got stuck going over the tracks. Horace Arville Stroud, born August 20, 1944, age, 80, in Beaumont, Texas, passed away on July 11, 2025, at 11:47 p.m., in Hospice care at Stonewood in Orange, Texas. He married Janet Sue Niffen Stroud on October 5, 1963, in Louisiana, Missouri. Horace was a pipeliner for Pentizen Corp for 15 years. He then started his roofing company called Pride Mark Roofing Company that he ran for 20 years or so. Horace then went to work for Kerr Enterprise for 5 years, then Tubal-Caine, and later retired. House Fire Off Teal
On Saturday evening four fire departments responded to a house fire off South Teal in northern Orange County. The call came in around 6:30pm from Dunromin Rd. ESD 3 Chief Matt Manshack and firefighters from Orange, ESD 4 and Deweyville arrived to find heavy smoke coming from the roof. Two occupants inside were able to get out unharmed.
