Lots of excitement about our story this week about the possibility of a new shopping center coming to Orange. If the city and the developers can come to an agreement, you could see some major players coming to town. The bad news is that if they come to an agreement, we're talking years from cutting a ribbon because it's such a big project. But you have to start somewhere. New Shopping Center In Orange?
Orange EDC looks at grants for shopping center The City of Orange Economic Development Corporation will have a public hearing at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday in the council chambers for spending $2 million for a proposed shopping, plus a 10-year rebate on a portion of sales taxes for the stores that locate there. The public hearing will allow citizens to give their views on the expenditures for a 43-acre project off Interstate 10 west near MLK Drive. Governor Greg Abbott issued a proclamation identifying 18 agenda items for the upcoming Special Session that began at 12:00 PM on Monday, July 21. Lamar University has been picked to finish fourth in a preseason poll of the Southland Conference head coaches and media relations directors announced league officials Monday morning from the 2025 Southland Conference Opening Drive Media Day event from the Henry B. Update: Mr. Burns passed from his injuries on Thursday, July 24. The Texas Department of Public Safety Troopers are investigating a two-vehicle fatality crash on U.S. Highway 87, south of Trout Creek, that occurred Monday, July 21, 2025. House Fire On South Street
Monday morning around 10:50am West Orange Fire received a call of a home on fire on South St. Firefighters arrived at 2814 South to find fire and smoke coming from the rear of the home. WOFD attacked the fire with assistance from OCESD 3 and 4. No one was home at the time. WO Chief David Roberts believed the home to be a total loss because of the damage inside.
