Early Voting for the May 4 Municipal Election starts Monday, April 22 and voters can vote at any of the locations below. Contested races include for Mayor in Bridge City where incumbent David Rutledge is being challenged by Carl Harbert. There are two being challenged on the OC Drainage District Board. Larry Ancelot is being challenged in Precinct 2 by Richard Capaldi and in Precinct 3 Seth Mize is running against incumbent James Scales. Vidor School Board has a contested race for Position 2. Rev. Woody Jackson passed away peacefully on April 18, 2024 in Denton, Texas at the age of 91. Woody was born on April 27, 1932 in Olton, Texas Lamb County to, S.L. Jackson and Betty Clements Jackson. He graduated, from Muleshoe high school in Muleshoe,Texas after which he joined the Marine Corp and served as a decorated Staff Sergeant during the Korean War. He loved his Country and served it proudly. After his Marine Corp service he married Patsy Carol Boone in 1953 till 2001 in which he had 4 children. TPWD Approves Hunting Regs
The Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission have approved hunting regulations for the 2024-25 season with the following modifications and clarifications to 2024-25 Statewide Hunting and Migratory Game Bird proclamations: Hunters hitting the field in the upcoming season should make note of these changes and follow all regulations set for species, tagging, bag limits, counties, season dates, means and methods. Lions Win TCAL Track
For the first time ever Community Christian School won the TCAL (Texas Christian Athletic League) Boys and Girls Team Championships at the State Track Meet. The state track meet was held in Houston, TX at Cypress Christian School on Saturday, April 20th. The CCS boys team won with a total of 139, and the girls team won with 120 points.
