Heavy rains came through Orange County Thursday morning dump inches of rain throughout the county. Rain gauge reports of 3-4" in Orange, Little Cypress and Bridge City. And reports of 4-6" in Vidor, Orangefield and Pinehurst. At one time as many as 4600 Entergy customers were without power. Some of that was caused by ground soaked fallen trees as well as rain soaked fallen trees that died from last years summer drought. Most had power back by the afternoon. Cards Take Game One 7-2
While all of the other area playoff games were rained out, the Bridge City Cardinals waited out the weather and took the field Thursday night at Lamar University. The Cards stayed busy on the base paths and outscored Liberty 7-2 to take Game One. Game Two has been moved to Barbers Hill at 7pm Friday. BC out hit Liberty 7-6. This morning at the State Track Meet, Vidor's Raegan Stephenson finished fifth in the 4A High Jump at 5-4 and Orangefield's Zach Morrow was 7th in the 3A Pole Vault at 12-6. The winning vault was 15-3. The winning high jump was 5-8. Vidor’s Blake Richards finished 6th in the 300H at the 4A State Meet with a time of 39.05. The winning time was 37.12. Robert Walter Folsom passed away peacefully at home in Pipe Creek, Texas, on Friday, April 26, 2024, with his wife, Mary Ann Smith, daughter, Christina Folsom, and son-in-law Carlos Becerra at his side. Lamar State College Orange hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony to unveil the new Hands-On-Training (H.O.T) Unit for Process Technology students Wednesday. The unit was built by Polaris EPC and purchased through a $1.325 million dollar donation from by Golden Triangle Polymers. Additionally, a customized control system by Scallon Controls was purchased for the unit. Future Wildcat Carson Fall throws another No-Hitter as the Lady Cards beat Lufkin Hudson 5-1 in Jasper Wednesday night. Fall gave up one run on two walks, no hits and 17 strikeouts.
