Bobcats, Franklin Head To Gm.3
Friday the Orangefield Bobcats and the Franklin Lions split a doubleheader and will play a Game 3 on Saturday at 4pm in Lufkin for a spot in Round Rock. Orangefield won Gm.1 dramatic fashion. After tying it with two runs in the bottom of the seventh, Kane Smith stole home in the 8th for a 6-5 win. In Gm. 2 Franklin took away OF's momentum quickly with a 3 run homer in the first. Environmental clean up crews were on the scene of a crude oil spill Thursday in Cow Bayou between Orangefield and Bridge City. Authorities were alerted around 11am. Allen Ponfick, 58, of Orangefield, passed away on Friday, May 24, 2024, at Christus Southeast Texas-St. Elizabeth in Beaumont after a brief illness. He was born on January 5, 1966, in Huntsville, Texas, to Eva Gail Cowan Ponfick and James Allen Ponfick. Allen was a lifelong resident of Southeast Texas. He graduated from Beaumont-Charlton Pollard High School in 1985 and worked as a Master Electrician. He was a dedicated member of IBEW Local 479 throughout his career.
