Jerome "Jerry" Douglas Norton embarked on his final journey on July 6, 2024, in Houston, Texas. He battled leukemia until his joyous end. He was born in Port Arthur Texas on November 10, 1952 to Jacqueline and Joseph Douglas Norton. Jerry was known for lighting up rooms and hearts with his charismatic and infectious outgoing personality. He was a proud patriot serving in both the Airforce and the National Guard for 14 years. The American Legion, Department of Texas, announced that Matthew Golemon and Adam Tsan of Orangefield High School have graduated from the American Legion Texas Boys State. Begun in 1935, Boys State is a unique program that educates future leaders about government, civics, and patriotism in a “learn by doing” environment. Entergy Restores 50 Percent
Two days after Hurricane Beryl’s landfall, Entergy Texas crews have successfully restored power to more than 50% of the 252,460 customers impacted. As of 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, approximately 127,300 customers have been restored. A workforce of more than 2,400 will continue working around the clock to restore 75% of customers impacted by the end of day Friday.
