Chase Shugart got the start for Worcester Saturday against the Rochester Red Wings. It was his third start of the season as he has spent most of his innings in relief. Home Burns In Vidor
Today around 1105 am, firefighters from OCESD1 were called out to a residential structure fire at 1507 S. Timberlane in Vidor. Crews arrived approximately two minutes after being dispatched to find a single story home with heavy smoke and fire showing. Due to the extreme damage the home was a loss. Fortunately the owners were not home. One firefighter was treated for heat related injuries. They were assisted by firefighters from OCESD#2 (Bridge City), OCESD#4 (Mauriceville), and Pinehurst fire departments. Stutler, Robinson Earn Diploma
Shane Stutler of Orange received his GED (General Equivalency Diploma) on Tuesday from Lamar State College Port Arthur. It came with a story. Stutler, 68, had applied for work with the Texas Department Criminal Justice as a prison guard. He produced his GED as part of the application process but the prison system said the GED wasn't real. Stutler left high school early for the Marines and completed his GED when he got out but the paperwork was lost over the years. As of 7 p.m. Thursday, Entergy Texas restoration crews have turned the lights back on for approximately 162,800 of the 252,460 customers impacted by Hurricane Beryl. Most of the remaining outages are in heavily damaged areas requiring more extensive repairs. Crews will continue to assess damage in hard-hit areas while safely restoring power as quickly as possible to communities. Only 139 customers in Orange County remain without power. 17 in Hardin County, and 82 in Jefferson County. The entire Bolivar Peninsula is still without power.
