Cheyenne Nicole Eads, 29, of Orange, Texas, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family and loved ones on July 14, 2024, at her home in Orange after a two-year battle with cervical cancer. Glen Ray McGee was born April 8, 1945, in Lake Charles, La., to Cleve and Gladys (Arabie) McGee. He was the oldest boy, with two brothers and three sisters; they were raised on the bayou, where he enjoyed playing, hunting and fishing. Tropical Storm Beryl didn't turn into a hurricane until it was just miles off the Texas coast near Bay City on Sunday, July 7. But it packed a punch as it caused damage all the way up to the Midwest. Beryl produced the most tornado warnings in a single July day, 110 warnings in 24 hours. Of those warnings, nearly 50 of them became confirmed tornadoes, including several in the lakes area. Lamar University senior pitcher Brooks Caple has been selected by the Chicago Cubs in the ninth round of the 2024 MLB Amateur Player Draft. He was taken with the 272nd overall pick. Four Suffer Gunshot Wounds
On Monday, July 15th, 2024, at 6:35 P.M., officers with the City of Orange Police Department were dispatched to the area of 2nd Street and Schley Avenue in reference to shots fired. While searching the area, information was provided by dispatch that a gunshot victim had arrived at Exceptional Emergency Center.
