Early Sunday morning at approximately 3:30am authorities were called to the Service Road near the IH-10 and Hwy. 62 intersection for an auto/pedestrian accident. A man riding a bicycle was struck by a white dually pickup truck traveling eastbound. Guardrail Serves Its Purpose
A new guardrail at the new Adams Bayou turnaround probably kept two people dry early Sunday morning. At approximately 2am two people in a Chevy Malibu were traveling eastbound on the I-10 Service Rd. in Orange. For years you have been able to take the service road across Adams Bayou but the bridges were eliminated by TxDOT during recent construction on I-10 and turned into only turnarounds under the interstate. Arthur Dean Dyson was born December 2, 1955, and passed away July 19, 2024, at the age of 68. Dean was a member of the West Orange Volunteer Fire Department for over 30 years. During these 30 years he was an Officer, Captain, Assistant Fire Chief, and Fire Chief. He coached Little League Baseball and was a member of West Orange Lions Club for many years. Man Killed In Accident
On Friday, July 19, 2024 at approximately 1am, the Bridge City Police Department received a 911 call about a possible vehicle crash in the 1300 block of FM 1442 (West Roundbunch). When Officers arrived in the area, they located a dark colored 2005 Honda Civic passenger car in the south ditch. Officers learned the driver of the vehicle had struck a pedestrian riding a bicycle. EPA Report On Release
On July 18, EPA Region 6 received two National Response Center reports indicating an ongoing air release in West Orange, Texas. Region 6 followed up with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) who said the source was unknown but believed it to be a railcar in the vicinity. Two EPA On-Scene Coordinators and technical assistance contractors (START) were activated to respond to the incident. The EPA was notified by TCEQ that the release was ethyl acrylate from a railcar at the Eagle Railcar Services facility located at 1993 Foreman Road in West Orange, Texas.
