A family in Bridge City lost their home Thursday afternoon after it caught fire. Everyone was out of the residence at the end of Vahalla Lane as Bridge City Fire and surrounding agencies arrived to put the blaze out on a very hot day. The Invista plant in Orange closed at the end of 2023 and ceased production of hexamethylene diamine (HMD). At the time Francis Murphy, INVISTA president and CEO said, “We appreciate the diligent and innovative work of employees at the Orange site over the years, unfortunately, lower than anticipated growth and an increase in global supply led to this difficult decision.” Invista has recently announced plans to invest $17 million to reopen its HMD plant in Maitland, Ontario.
