Orange Draws New HEB to I-10 at 16th
The Orange City Council will vote Tuesday on an economic development package to attract a new HEB store to be constructed at the current site of Northway Shopping Center off Interstate 10. The proposed economic development deal includes the city giving a grant of $1.5 million to HEB for construction “infrastructure,” plus a 33 percent rebate on all sales taxes for 10 years. Tax Rate Decreases After $27.5 Million Bond Passes With No Increase to Taxpayers Bridge City Independent School District (BCISD) has officially adopted a lower tax rate for the 2025–2026 fiscal year, dropping the rate by .0477 cents per $100 of assessed value. WOC Bus Involved In Accident
Around 3:30pm a West Orange-Cove school bus was involved in an accident near the intersection of 16th Street and Interstate 10. Fortunately no students were injured. The new bus collided with a Ford Explorer near Lincoln Drive. Those at the scene said the Ford failed to yield the right of way.
