On Friday, December 12, at 8:57PM Officer of the Orange Police Department responded to a disturbance with shots fired at 3733 Ridgemont Dr. Upon arrival Officers discovered a male, with gunshot wounds, deceased in the front yard. They also discovered another male at the residence suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Longtime local attorney Lynwood Sanders died Friday. He was the president and general counsel for Sabine Title Company and specialized in real estate law. Sanders graduated from LSU law school in 1957 and the moved to Orange where he began his career in real estate law. His downtown law office complex has been one of the landmarks on Front Street in downtown Orange. Sanders was an active member of the Democratic Party for decades, including the years when the party dominated local and state politics. Two Orangeites Indicted
Two Orange residents were among five people pleading guilty to federal counterfeiting charges in connection with counterfeit checks that were cashed for more than $110,000. Four of the people pleaded guilty to conspiracy to counterfeit business checks today before U.S. Magistrate Judge Keith F. Giblin.
