Yes, we know it was a scrimmage but the WOS Mustangs left with a lot of positive results in their scrimmage against Lumberton Thursday. They played controlled football for both first and second teams and then played two quarters using the clock. WOS posted four touchdowns with two called back for penalties away from the play. They also had an interception (above by Ja'cuincy Walker) and a fumble recovery while keeping the Raiders out of the end zone. Man Indicted For Hitting Officer
This week a Jefferson County Grand Jury indicted Danny Johnson, Jr. for Resisting Arrest and Assaulting a Police Officer. On July 15 Beaumont Police respsonded to a disturbance on Laurel Ave. and when they approached Johnson, 24, of Vidor, he "furthered" the disturbance and so he was detained. A check of Johnson revealed he had outstanding warrants in Orange County. The officer then uncuffed Johnson to seearch him and Johnson continued to turn and resist. Weekly Fishing Report Week of August 14, 2024 Sam RayburnGOOD. Water stained; 89 degrees; 3.74 feet above pool. No water is being released, stoned in the creeks. Bass are slow in shallow water with many smaller fish being caught on frogs, and spinnerbaits. Deeper bass bite is fair with Carolina rigs. Crappie are slow in the morning, but improve midday. Catfish are all over the lake in 20 feet of water and in 12 feet of water in the creek channels. White bass are on points in the south end of the lake near the dam. West Orange Police have released Officer Chuck Cobb's body cam video following the heroic efforts of Cobb and two citizens to rescue a woman who drove into a pond on Hwy. 87 back on July 24. The woman, Jonquetta Winbush, suffered what is believed to be a seizure. Cobb found her unconscious. He performed CPR and got a pulse before EMT's showed up and transferred her to the hospital.
