LSCO Duo Finishes Third
LSCO Fishing Team members Holden Hatcher and JD Sewell qualified for the MLF National Championship after a third place finish on the St. Lawrence River in New York. In the one day tournament the duo bagged five fish for 21-10 pounds. A team from the University of Alabama won with a total of 25-1. Full results With their finish Hatcher/Sewell qualify for the MLF National Championship at Alabama's Lake Wheeler in April. The LSCO team of Porter Welch and Brendan Brones finished 11th out of the 34 teams with 17-11. Serious Injuries After Accident
The Texas Department of Public Safety Troopers are investigating a one-vehicle crash on Four Oaks Ranch Road, north of Vidor, that occurred Saturday, August 24, 2024. The preliminary crash investigation indicates that at approximately 6:40 p.m., a 2003 Ford Mustang was traveling east. It is reported that the Ford traveled off the roadway for an unknown reason, rolled several times, and struck a road sign. Accidents Claim 3 In Newton Co.
Three people died in two separate accidents in Newton County Friday. The pilot of a helicopter died after he crashed on FM 1414 Friday around 1:30pm. He was the only person in the helicopter. Another man on the ground was reportedly injured when he was struck by a piece of the rotary wing aircraft. Then a short time later, a vehicle accident on FM 363 in the Bleakwood community killed two people. A Ford F-250 pickup truck driven by Sherrill Reese, 65, veered off the road and overturned.
