Curtis Lavergne Armstrong was born in Orange, Texas on May 9, 1921 to Curtis Lamar Armstrong and Mary Ethel Hatton Armstrong. A grandson of early Orange pioneer John Moses Hatton, Curtis grew up in a time when horses were an acceptable (and often preferred) mode of transportation and cattle drives still occurred across Roundbunch. Betty Jane Parsons, 81, of Orange, passed away Thursday, November 20, 2014 at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont following an illness. Born on July 21, 1933 in Bald Knob, Arkansas to her parents, Lonnie Aldridge and Nettie Bell (Rooks) Aldridge, she was a resident of Orange since December of 1966, she was a member of the Little Cypress Baptist Church and she worked as a Supervisor for the Bealls Store in Orange. All non-emergency offices for Orange County and the cities of Orange, West Orange, Pinehurst, Bridge City and Vidor will be closed Thursday and Friday for Thanksgiving. Vidor will be the only city with garbage service on Thursday. Garbage pickup schedules are: Orange: No pickup Thursday. A Vidor man and a Mauriceville man are facing disorderly conduct charges after they used their vehicles to fight each other on Interstate 10 Friday. Orange police received five 911 calls about the two eastbound vehicles. Officer S.V. Ward reported the vehicles were first reported near FM 1442 about 1:15 p.m. The two vehicles continued the disputed into Orange, refusing to stop for officers in patrol cars. The Kiwanis Club of Orange, Texas is proud to present “A Traditional Bluegrass Gospel Music Review” fundraiser featuring the Marksmen Quartet. West Orange Approves Reinvestment Zone For Portion of Foreman Road
The City Council in West Orange approved establishing a reinvestment zone for a portion of Foreman Road Monday night. The zone will be the area of a new facility being built by Southeast Texas Industries (STI) according to County Economic Development Director Bobby Fillyaw.
