Curtis Armstrong

Curtis Lavergne Armstrong was born in Orange, Texas on May 9, 1921 to Curtis Lamar Armstrong and Mary Ethel Hatton Armstrong. A grandson of early Orange pioneer John Moses Hatton, Curtis grew up in a time when horses were an acceptable (and often preferred) mode of transportation and cattle drives still occurred across Roundbunch. He and his two older sisters, Loraine and Gladys, were raised on their parents’ dairy farm, learning at a young age the values of respect, honesty, and hard work. Betty Jane Parsons

Betty Jane Parsons, 81, of Orange, passed away Thursday, November 20, 2014 at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont following an illness. Born on July 21, 1933 in Bald Knob, Arkansas to her parents, Lonnie Aldridge and Nettie Bell (Rooks) Aldridge, she was a resident of Orange since December of 1966, she was a member of the Little Cypress Baptist Church and she worked as a Supervisor for the Bealls Store in Orange. Grace Lutheran Church, along with the Southeast Texas Model Railroad Club would like to invite you to National Model Railroad Open House at the church on Saturday November 29 and Sunday November 30. Times will be from 10 am to 5 pm on Saturday and Noon to 4 pm on Sunday. Thanksgiving closings

All non-emergency offices for Orange County and the cities of Orange, West Orange, Pinehurst, Bridge City and Vidor will be closed Thursday and Friday for Thanksgiving. Vidor will be the only city with garbage service on Thursday. Garbage pickup schedules are: Orange: No pickup Thursday. Regular Thursday routes will be on Friday and Friday customers are scheduled for Saturday. Pinehurst: No Friday pickup. Garbage trucks will run Saturday. West Orange: No Friday pickup. Playing Chicken

A Vidor man and a Mauriceville man are facing disorderly conduct charges after they used their vehicles to fight each other on Interstate 10 Friday. Orange police received five 911 calls about the two eastbound vehicles. Officer S.V. Ward reported the vehicles were first reported near FM 1442 about 1:15 p.m. The two vehicles continued the disputed into Orange, refusing to stop for officers in patrol cars. Officer Ward said the two vehicles pulled in front of each other and put on their brakes. They also used the highway shoulder to pass other vehicles on the interstate. Bluegrass Concert

The Kiwanis Club of Orange, Texas is proud to present “A Traditional Bluegrass Gospel Music Review” fundraiser featuring the Marksmen Quartet. The concert will be held Monday, December 15, 2014, at 7 p.m. at the LCM High School Auditorium. West Orange Approves Reinvestment Zone For Portion of Foreman Road

The City Council in West Orange approved establishing a reinvestment zone for a portion of Foreman Road Monday night. The zone will be the area of a new facility being built by Southeast Texas Industries (STI) according to County Economic Development Director Bobby Fillyaw.
