It was a preseason game which may serve as a bit of a preview of the competitiveness in the District 24-4A baseball race. Saturday the Little Cypress-Mauriceville Bears hung on to beat the West Orange-Stark Mustangs 6-5 at Don Gibbens Field. BC Baseball Goes 3-2
The BC baseball team went 3-2 in the Bell Rivals Baseball Tournament this weekend. They defeated Brownwood, Liberty, and Rockdale. Jonah Watts and Chase Shugart were named to the all tournament team. Kyle Bergeron, Jonah Watts, and Tod Mcdowell picked up wins on the mound and Tyler Bouget added a save. Chase Shugart hit 2 homeruns and Logan New added one himself. Bobcat Teams Compete in Tournaments
The OF Bobcat baseball team went 1-2 at the Shepherd Tournament. They lost to Conroe Northside 11-1. They also lost to Huntington 5-4. OF had 3 hits (Mack Patterson, Tryce Howard, and Dylan Anthony.) The Bobcats beat the host Pirates 10-3 as Howard got the win on the mound and Caleb Hussey went 5-5 at the plate. The Lady Bobcat softball team played this weekend in the Livingston tournament and went 4-1. Victories were against Shepherd 5-1, Splendora 6-3, Livingston 6-4, and Tarkington 1-0. Community Cleans Orange
Members of the Gate City Masonic Lodge and their families took on cleaning up Simmons Drive Saturday morning. They were among hundreds of community volunteers Saturday picking up trash and garbage for the 20th Annual clean-up sponsored by Shangri La. This year the group concentrated on the Sabine River instead of Adams Bayou. Boaters took crews out into the river. Other groups of volunteers spread across Orange, West Orange and Pinehurst.
