Nederland quarterback Ayden Sunday led the Bulldogs on a 97-yard game-winning drive as he completed a 1-yard touchdown pass to Jabneel Serrano as the clock expired. The Deweyville Pirates (1-0) will host Cushing (1-0) on Friday and they will be honoring a former player for the rest of the season. The Pirates helmet logo will include the number 8 that was worn by Shawn Dreyer. Dreyer graduated in 2022 and passed away in June of this year in an automobile accident in Starks, La. An Orange man has pleaded guilty to federal drug trafficking violations in the Eastern District of Texas, announced U.S. Attorney Damien M. Diggs. Lawrence Duguett Hardin, Jr., 38, pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute fentanyl before U.S. Magistrate Judge Zack Hawthorn on September 5, 2024. According to information presented in court, on August 17, 2023, a 22-year-old woman died in Humble, Texas, as a result of fentanyl exposure.
